Has Rakul Preet Singh replaced Parineeti Chopra in the Mahesh Babu film?

Rakul Preet Singh may have replaced Parineeti Chopra in Akira director AR Murugadoss' next. IANS journalist Haricharan Pudipeddi tweeted that the actress has been confirmed to play the female lead opposite Mahesh Babu in this film.

Mahesh23, as the film is called right now, is reportedly being made on a budget of Rs 90 crore. The film will be shot in Telugu and Tamil and was meant to be Parineeti's debut in South Indian films. The film will also be Mahesh Babu's first Tamil film. 

Harris Jayaraj will compose music for the film while Santhosh Sivan will be the cinematographer.

Parineeti recently announced she was going to star opposite Sushant Singh Rajput in Homi Adjania's Takadum which starts shooting in October. She's also starring opposite Ayushmann Khurranna in Meri Pyaari Bindu.

The makers of Mahesh23  are yet to confirm who their leading lady is. The film is set to begin shoot on July 15.
