Good Vibes: F’s the buzzword in Bollywood!

The ice may not have broken but the thawing process seems to have begun, feel industrywallahs, who have been witness to their dosti and the dushmani that started with a heated exchange of words at Katrina Kaif’s party a few years ago.

Cat-fights, fall-outs and equally filmi patch-ups have always been part of Bollywood lore and more so in the recent few years. But this year seems to be a tad different as B-Towners seem to prefer going on bonding sprees than taking pangas. First it was Priyanka Chopra’s kiss-and-make-up with Karan Johar at his birthday bash that got a thumbs up from the industry and then came reports of PC bonding with old pal Salman Khan once again.

Though the two never admitted to sharing cold vibes, insiders maintain that all was definitely not well. “PC’s proximity to Shah Rukh Khan only added fuel to the fire. But now she and Salman are back to being very friendly and the change is quite visible too,” they reveal.

But the biggest patch-up that everyone had been waiting for — between the two warring Khans — seems more possible now that SRK reportedly welcomed Salman cordially to his film premiere recently. The ice may not have broken but the thawing process seems to have begun, feel industrywallahs, who have been witness to their dosti and the dushmani that started with a heated exchange of words at Katrina Kaif’s party a few years ago.

Even more dramatic was the slapgate incident between Shah Rukh and Shirish Kunder at Sanjay Dutt’s bash early this year. The matter was resolved with tearful hugs after SRK’s good pal and Kunder’s wife Farah Khan intervened. Not only did things get sorted out between the not-so-friendly SKs, but also had a fairytale ending with Farah returning to team up with SRK for a new film.

As for Sanjay, whose film success bash had become the venue of the infamous brawl, he has now called it truce with Kangana Ranaut, sources say. He has also reportedly made peace with his former best pal Sanjay Gupta when they met at Amitabh Bachchan’s birthday bash last month.

“It won’t be surprising if Dutt  makes a cameo or does a special number in Gupta’s upcoming film,” add insiders.

An industry insider shares that Bollywood is very trade-driven by people with extremely fragile egoes, as it’s all about having an image here. “These fractures in relationships are often long-term. But then there is a good reason why they say that there’s nothing like permanent friendships or enemities. Ultimately, it all boils down to economics. With only so many people to work with, it’s difficult to form camps or take sides any more. People today opt for going neutral than earn the ire of someone, especially if they’re in a powerful position. Besides, it seems futile to hold grudges that affect your stand at the box-office,” they say.

A top star who didn’t wish to be named adds, “Take a look around. With so many loved ones leaving us, it puts in perspective how trivial these issues are. It’s best to let go and that’s what’s profitable for the industry too.”
