The seventh episode of Game of Thrones season 5 is titled 'The Gift'. The episode description reads- "Jon prepares for conflict. Sansa tries to talk to Theon. Brienne waits for a sign. Stannis remains stubborn. Jaime attempts to reconnect with family."
The preview begins with Lord Commander John Snow preparing to leave Castle Black with Tormund Giantsbane, on a mission aimed at forging an alliance with wildlings. You'll remember from that this is not an idea popular with many in the Night's Watch. Ser Aliser Thorn's whispered threat to Sam hints at a mutiny within the ranks of the Watch.
Stannis is en route to Winterfell, determined to march into battle against the Boltons even as the expression on Ser Davos' face screams 'NO!'.
After the controversial rape scene in last week's episode, Sansa continues to be tortured by her new husband. The preview hints at Sansa coaxing Theon into making a possible escape plan. 'My family still has friends in the North,' we hear Sansa say. Let's hope this means Brienne finally has something substantial to do.
The fallout from Margaery's arrest should bring interesting confrontations between Olenna, the High Sparrow and Cersei. In Olenna, Cersei has a formidable rival she should not have made an enemy of. Cersei's fate is likely to fall into the hands of the High Sparrow soon.
In Dorne, last week Jaime was captured by the Captain of Prince Doran's guard, Areo Hotah. The Lannister reconnecting with his family must mean we are in for an uncomfortable conversation with daughter Myrcella.
No mention of Daenerys and Tyrion means we'll have to keep waiting for them to actually meet but perhaps we'll get to see impending nuptials between the Khaleesi and Hizdahr zo Loraq.
