Housefull is one of those franchises which not only boasts of a great recall value but is also famous for the star value that each of its instalment had. Housefull released in 2010 with actors like Akshay Kumar, Deepika Padukone, Riteish Deshmukh, Lara Dutta, Arjun Rampal and Jiah Khan outlining the cast. Six years down the line, the film has evolved at the box office and how!

Sajid Khan and Sajid Nadiadwala flagged the first film, knowing that it might soon turn into a franchise - one that will bring heavy returns at the BO. And it did! Housefull became one of the highest grossers that year and paved way for Housefull 2 which released two years later in 2012.

Akshay and Riteish were retained but John Abraham and Shreyas Talpade joined the cast along with the leading ladies- Asin, Jacqueline Fernandez, Zareen Khan and Shazahn Padamsee. HF 2 turned out to be the first comedy film that entered the 100 crore club.

Now, the previous two instalments had set the ball rolling for Housefull 3. The film, headlined by Akshay, Riteish and Jackie (who have been part of all the three editions) were now joined by Abhishek Bachchan, Nargis Fakhri and Lisa Haydon for another laugh riot of sorts.

Taking a look at all the three Housefull films, here's how the franchise has grown at the box office.

Housefull:

The film opened at Rs 9.32 crore which was a huge figure back in 2010. That was the same year when Karan Johar's My Name is Khan too hit screens in February and these were the two films that brought in a lot of returns that year along with Golmaal 3, Dabangg and Raajneeti. Housefull ended its lifetime run at around Rs 75 crore.

Housefull 2:

When Housefull 2 released, it amassed a huge opening figure at the BO. The buzz, the hype worked in favour of the Sajid Khan directorial as it netted in Rs 12.13 crore at the box office on its first Friday, which was a 30% growth from its predecessor's day one performance. The film eventually crossed the Rs 100 crore mark easily.

Housefull 3:

While HF 2 opened at around the Rs 12 crore mark, HF 3 which had the widest release of 2016 so far, capitalised on the same and raked in Rs 15 crore at the box office on its opening day. That again is a 25 percent growth from what HF 2 got on its first day. Now, it needs to be seen how long HF 3 goes and what it lifetime turns out to be.
