Ranveer Singh was all praises for Aamir Khan at a recent event in Delhi. Deepika Padukone’s beau was quizzed about AK’s opinion on the  infamous AIB Knockout – The Roast of Arjun Kapoor, Ranveer Singh and Karan Johar. The actor said, “Even though Aamir did not like AIB Roast, I still love him and respect him from the bottom of my heart.” The Gunday actor did not stop there he even credited AK with reforming Bollywood content. He added, “He has been a game changer of content. He is the poster boy for blurring the lines between alternate and commercial films. His bravery blends these two worlds. All his choices Talaash, Lagaan, Rang De Basanti, Taare Zameen Par, they were all integrated. They mix the best of both worlds. He made commercial successes of the kind if content you couldn’t have imagined would be commercially viable. He is a revolution.”

Jogging back AIB controversy days, Aamir who had not even watched the show on YouTube had said,”I have not yet seen that roast, but I have heard a lot about it roast’. And I have seen 2-3 clips of that, I was deeply affected by that and I was most disappointed in what I was hearing. I completely believe in freedom of speech no issues, but we have to understand we all have certain responsibilities. When I heard what was being described to me I felt it was a very violent event. I do not like such things. Violence does not mean only physical, it can be verbal too. When you insult someone, you are perpetuating violence. When you are abusing or insulting someone, you are showing the world how violent you are.”

The Dangal actor had also confessed that he reprimanded Karan and Arjun for participating in the show, “I don’t like to show you violence. I am sure there are lot of young people who have liked the show. My opinion is that it was a violent show. Karan and Arjun are my friends and I scolded them and told them that I was not impressed with it. I am not someone who can laugh at abuses and bad language, I think I have passed that age. I am not a 14 year-old who will laugh at abuses. I am not impressed. I personally have a problem with what they have done, therefore I have not seen the show. I felt that this is not my type of show, that’s why I haven’t seen it.”

Aamir’s statement earned him a lot of flak. Many questioned Khan’s double standards and his opinion on a show which he hadn’t even watched. However a few weeks later the Lagaan actor gave out more details on why he was against the roast, he said, “I’m aware that if you sign up for the Roast, you sign up to insult each other. But, in this case, even those who hadn’t signed up were being targeted, like Farida Jalal, Reema Lagoo and a beautiful, young girl I love dearly.”

Certainly, Ranveer has kept a close watch on Aamir‘s statement, but still continues to be a huge fan of Bollywood’s Mr Perfectionist!
