Ed Sheeran to guest star in 'Game of Thrones' season 7!

Ed Sheeran has become the new music artist to be featured as a guest star on Game of Thrones.

Speaking at the South by Southwest Panel of the show, creators DB Weiss and David Benioff gave out a lot of details about the upcoming season and the season after that, reports Entertainment Weekly.

At the beginning of the festival, Game of Thrones which has been a mainstay of the Austin, Texas event unveiled the release date of the seventh season of the show to be July 16.

At the panel discussion, the producers said that they had been trying to get the Divide singer on the show to surprise Maisie Williams (Arya Stark) who is a fan of Sheeran. "This year we finally did it,” Benioff said.

Previous seasons of Game of Thrones have featured cameos by Mastodon, Sigur Ros, Gary Lightbody of Snow Patrol, and Will Champion of Coldplay.
