Scurrying into her imagined career options in the West where all she has to show of her presence is self- generated photo-ops with Antonio Banderas and President Obama, Mallika has now been swiped back into the limelight by a newsreport from France that claims she was attacked in Paris in her hotel room while she was with her male companion.
No one has actually seen any visual image of the attack. Not a soul in Bollywood is aware of what really happened as Sherawat has not kept in touch with anyone in the Indian entertainment industry. Bizarrely the same incident, with some vital variations, occurred with Kim Kardashian in Paris some time ago. The Mallika incident seems a suspicious footprint replica of the Kim Kardashian incident.
Bollywood has reacted with more amusement than alarm at one of their own fraternity being in an International crime situation.A filmmaker who has worked with Mallika laughed at the report. “Has she really been attacked? But just a day or two after the supposed attack in Paris she was seen in Agra visiting the Taj Mahal.So…I don’t know what to believe.”
A leading ad filmmaker and media guru compliments Mallika for staying in the news. “She is the queen of re-invention. From a nondescript Reema Lamba from Haryana playing Kareena Kapoor’s saheli in Jeena Sirf Tere Liye she became the femme fatale in Murder. Then she began promoting herself as a global star and was pretty disastrous at it. Now when her limelight-seeking tactics were failing she is India’s answer to Kim Kardashian. Not bad.”
Mallika will next be seen in a Chinese film Time Raiders where she plays a sorceress. In Bollywood she has not been offered any project during the last two years.Most of Bollywood has already moved on. But Mallika will bounce back.She always does.
