Dhanush's Tamil remake of 'Nil Battey Sannata' titled 'Amma Kannaku'

The yet-to-be-released Hindi movie Nil Battey Sannata has already won actress Swara Bhaskar the Best Actress award at the Silk Road International Film Festival in China last year. Now Kollywood star Dhanush is remaking the movie in Tamil with Amala Paul essaying Swara Bhaskar's role. Director Ashwiny Iyer Tiwari who directed the original will also be directing the Tamil version. The idea is to release both the Hindi and Tamil versions simultaneously. 

According to Dhanush's production house Wunderbar Films, the movie has been titled Amma Kannaku in Tamil.

The story revolves around women and in the Tamil version it features Amala Paul and Revathi. Director-turned-actor Samutharakani is also part of the film.

While the Hindi film was set in Agra, the Tamil film will be set in Chennai.
