A day after pulling down controversial AIB Roast video, the group has come out with an explanation in their facebook page.

In a lengthy poat, AIB categorically denies pulling down the video due to external pressure. According to them this is  'not something that’s happened because of a 3 am phonecall or a morcha at our front door or a gunman on a grassy knoll. Under the circumstances, this is us being pragmatic'.

AIB says that they wanted to bring a new genre of comedy in India where people can crack jokes at themselves and also express views freely which they have thought privately for years.

According to AIB, they wanted to push the envelope but the envelope pushed back. The group believes many people they didn't meant to hurt got affected in the process.

AIB says that they have never wrote a script with the intention of hurting people. In an emotional post, the group says that they have respect for contrarian views and it is perfectly okay if some people found them juvenile or unfunny.

AIB says that many in the political space irrespective of their ideology enjoyed their Roast and media also was sympathetic to their cause. AIB believes there is a large cultural conversation going on and they are 'at the very edges of what it’s okay to say. And it’s a conversation we need to have now because the world we live in is entirely too complicated to be run by silences. We still stand by our belief in the right to absolute freedom of expression for us and for anyone who has anything to say about anything at all. We hope to be part of an environment that supports that sort of expression without fear of persecution, intimidation and most importantly, annoyance. As always, in our own AIB way we’ll continue to strive towards creating that very environment'

AIB in their post thanked both their supporters and baiters and said that they will continue to encourage conversation on freedom of speech for sake of hundreds and thousands of artists, commentators and common citizens. AIB said that they are cooperating with the authorities and hope that the matter is sorted out soon.

AIB showed their brand of cheeky humour in the end of the longish blogpost saying, ' It’s a good thing nobody’s downloaded the file and put it on a torrent website or anything'.
