Former Friends star David Schwimmer and his wife Zoe Buckman are taking some time apart from their marriage to evaluate their future.

The couple, who have five-year-old daughter Cleo together, are taking a break from their six-year marriage and have appealed for support and privacy in order to focus on raising their little girl during their new chapter, reported Us Weekly.

"It is with great love, respect and friendship that we have decided to take some time apart while we determine the future of our relationship," the couple said in a statement.

"Our priority is, of course, our daughter's happiness and well being during this challenging time, and so we ask for your support and respect for our privacy as we continue to raise her together and navigate this new chapter for our family."

Schwimmer, 50, met the 31-year-old photographer when he was directing Run in London in 2007, and she relocated from her native UK to be with him in Los Angeles.

The couple married in 2010. It was the first wedding for both.

Schwimmer and Buckman welcomed a daughter in May 2011.

The last public appearance for the couple was for the opening night of The Front Page at the Broadhurst Theatre in New York City in October 2016.
