According to The Hollywood Reporter, the reunion is going to be unscripted and will also feature the series’ creators, David Crane and Martha Kauffman. The show will be taped in Stage 24 of the infamous Warner Bros lot in Burbank, where Friends filmed its entire run. Chief content officer st HBO Max, Kevin Reilly spoke about the same and said that he was thrilled to see the show "catch on with viewers generation after generation. It taps into an era when friends – and audiences – gathered together in real-time and we think this reunion special will capture that spirit, uniting original and new fans."

The rumours about the reunion have been going for some time but fuel to the fire was added last year when Jennifer hinted that something might be cooking. She spoke to the talk show host Ellen DeGeneres and said, "We would love for there to be something, but we don’t know what that something is. So we’re just trying. We’re working on something."
