September 5 is the International Day for Charity and people in Chennai are coming together to do their bit for society. The Madras Round Table 1 kicked off Chennai Gives, a campaign that involves people donating items. Kollywood celebs like Suriya, Arvind Swami, Jayam Ravi, Trisha, Jyothika and Dulquer Salman have also come forward to support the campaign and pledged to donate items.

People who have things they don’t use – anything from toys to clothes to kitchen items – can donate them for a good cause. “The initiative has gone up ten fold than what we expected. We are now working even harder to ensure that all the items from our donors reach the beneficiaries. The city has supported this initiative to their fullest,” says Puneet Gupta, Chairman, Madras Round Table I.

Arvind Swami is the brand ambassador for Chennai Gives and has urged people to come forward and donate. Jayam Ravi and his wife Aarti will be donating 350 items for Chennai Gives. Suriya and Jyothika have pledged 100 items each, while Trisha has also pledged her support. Dulquer Salman has stated that he is pledging 150 items to the campaign as well.

Madras Round Table 1 has tied up with Uber for this campaign where an Uber car will pick up the items and drop them off at collection points in the city.
