Sridevi requested Boney to back a project with Ajith after she worked with the superstar in English Vinglish
Sridevi’s untimely death in 2018 had left most heartbroken and left a strange sense of void. Her husband Boney Kapoor however promised to try and fill that void, which he is doing now. Sridevi requested Boney to back a project with superstar Ajith. After some brainstorming, Ajith came up with the idea of remaking Amitabh Bachchan and Taapsee Pannu starrer Pink, which Sridevi approved.
The makers had their film in mind but they were not sure how to take it ahead since they didn’t have an actress for the role. However they have now roped in Vidya Balan, who recently worked in a film down South titled NTR biopic. With Pink remake, Vidya would also mark her debut in the Tamil film industry.
Boney Kapoor released a statement confirming the same which stated, "Happy to introduce Vidya Balan to Tamil audiences. She is paired with Ajith and her role is very special. Shraddha Srinath has also been roped in for a pivotal role. Rangaraj Pandey plays a very important character."
"While working with Ajith in English Vinglish, Sridevi had expressed her desire that Ajith does a Tamil film for our home production. Nothing exciting came up till one day last year. Ajith suggested remaking Pink in Tamil. She immediately agreed as she thought it was the most appropriate and timely film to make and Ajith would bring all the elements required to make it into a great Tamil film," Kapoor had previously said.
The shooting for this yet untitled film is underway in Hyderabad. Helmed by Sathuranga Vettai director H Vinoth, the film is slated to release on May 1. Boney Kapoor also mentioned that he would be working on another film with Ajith, which is set to go on floors in July and will release in April 2020.
