Bollywood mourns Christopher Lee's death

Screen legend Lee was best known for his portrayal of Dracula and was considered one the most iconic on-screen villain.

Bollywood celebrities including Sujoy Ghosh and Sajid Khan today paid tribute to the legendary Hollywood actor Christopher Lee, who died due to respiratory problems.

The actor breathed his last on Sunday, but the news was reported on Thursday by the British media.

Director-actor Sajid was one of the first to pay homage to the the man with the "golden gun", referring to his role in James Bond film "The Man with the Golden Gun".

"RIP Christopher Lee... He will always be alive through his various entertaining characters... Especially Scaramanga...??" he tweeted.

Remembering him, Kahaani director Sujoy Ghosh tweeted, "The man with the golden gun is no more"

Suparn Verma, who made his debut with Aatma, paid condolence to the icon of horror film. "RIP Christopher Lee" the director wrote.

Veteran actor Naseeruddin Shah's son Vivaan, who was last in Bombay Velvet, also took to the micro-blogging site to express his sorrow over the demise of the The Curse of Frankenstein actor. "RIP Sir Christopher Lee" he tweeted.

Actor Ranvir Shorey wrote, "RIP, Christopher Lee. #respect."

Lee's film career started in 1947 with a role in gothic romance Corridor of Mirrors. He was knighted in 2009 for services to drama and charity and was awarded the BAFTA fellowship in 2011.

The actor still has one film yet to be released, a fantasy film Angels in Notting Hill, where he plays a godly figure who looks after the universe.
