Devdas
This 2002 hit movie, directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali was based on a novel by Sharat Chandra Chattopadhyay. This was her second movie with the director and we must admit this actress looks nothing less than a damsel in his flicks. Aishwarya sizzled on screen as Paro in this movie and she definitely wooed many hearts after this. That year, Devdas managed to win over 10 awards at the Filmfare ceremony which included Aishwarya's Best Actress award. She dazzled the screen in traditional attires and one wondered if anyone could look as gorgeous as her. She matched Madhuri Dixit-Nene step by step for popular dance number 'Dola re Dola.'

Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam
This was her first movie with ace director Sanjay Leela Bhansali and no doubt she defined beauty. Her innocence, her aura and her charm in the movie could have made anyone fall for Nandini. No wonder, if Salman Khan was one of them. The 'Nimbooda' and 'Dholi Taro Dhol Baje' numbers showed how gracious this former Miss World can be. She managed to bag Best Actress at the Filmfare Awards of the year 2000 for this movie. The bubbly Nandini still holds a soft corner in our hearts somewhere.

Taal
Taal directed by Subhash Ghai was appreciated for its star cast and music. Taal belonged to the genre of 'Musical Romantic Drama' where Aishwarya played the role of girl-next-door. It was the first Indian movie to generate a spot in top 20 on Variety's box office list. Aishwarya's dance number in 'Kahin Aag Lage Lag Jaaye' is one the powerful performances of our time. She made a well-balanced transformation from a village girl Mansi to a someone who becomes a singing sensation. 

Guzaarish
Another movie with talented Director, Sanjay Leela Bhansali, Guzaarish widened the horizons for Aishwarya. Though the movie was not a box-office success, it garnered good reviews for the actress from the critics. She looked elegant in the role of Sofia D'Souza. She portrayed the role of a nurse of Hrithik who is a quadriplegic magician. Sanjay always considered Aishwarya as his first choice for this role. He believed if anyone could pull this character, it was only her. Meanwhile, Aishwarya never doubted her director's vision.She dazzled on screen in Sabyasachi's creations and sure looked like a diva.

Dhoom 2
If Aishwarya looked sexy in the movie like never before. This popular franchise had Aishwarya essaying the role of a con artist along with Hrithik Roshan. This 'Crazy Kiya Re' girl had sure set the stage on fire with her dance moves and a body to die for. We can say that this movie was her first attempt in trying out a bold avatar. Dhoom 2 definitely made us see the oomph factor. It was a commercially hit movie which also starred her husband Abhishek Bachchan.

Mani Ratnam at his best again. This movie was allegedly based on the life of business tycoon, Dhirubhai Ambani. Abhishek Bachchan played the lead role while Aishwarya played the role of his wife in this movie. She portrayed the role of a small village girl who is forced to marry against her will but later falls for him. Aishwarya plays the role of inspiring, supporting wife to an ambitious businessman husband. The movie was appreciated with the masses and critics both. The Abhi-Aish jodi was well loved by the audiences.

Jodha Akbar
This Ashutosh Gowariker movie had Aishwarya essaying the role of princess Jodha who was married to Mughal Emperor Akbar played by Hrithik Roshan. Their second outing as the on-screen couple. Aishwarya raised her bar in terms of her acting and her persona. She looked perfect as a queen on screen and the audience was left spellbound seeing her in Neeta Lulla ensembles. This movie got her Best Actress Popular Choice Award. This periodic drama set in the 16th century was well applauded for huge movie sets, it's music and the intense chemistry between Hrithik and Aishwarya.
