Actor Bill Pullman has been tapped to star as Nelson Rockfeller, the 41st Vice President of the US, in Adam Mckay's film about Dick Cheney.

The "Independence Day" star has joined Christian Bale, who is in the role of Cheney, reported Deadline.

Cheney served in the administrations of Richard Nixon, Gerald Ford, and George W Bush before becoming the CEO of Halliburton. He was the former vice president of the US between 2001 and 2009 under Bush.

The film also stars Steve Carell as two-time defense secretary Donald Rumsfeld and Amy Adams as Lynne Cheney.

The movie, which is now being called 'Backseat', marks the reunion of Bale, Carell and Mckay. The popular trio has worked in the 2015 film "The Big Short".
