Marathi actress Ashwini Ekbote passed away tragically while performing in Pune on Saturday night. The 44 year old actress has left a void in the Marathi film industry with her colleagues and industry friends mourning her sudden death. She was just 44.

Ashwini collapsed and died in the middle of her dance performance, leaving everyone around shocked. She was supposed to do a promotional photo shoot for her next film Miss You Miss and also had to dub for her role in an yet-to-release Marathi film.

Following the sudden news of her death, her co-star Bhagyesh Desai spoke of the actress. He told Indian Express, "I worked with her in Miss You Miss that will be released in December. We were talking only yesterday about her photo shoot for promotion of the movie. Since she was engaged in the evening, we postponed the shoot."

He also revealed how talented and dedicated the late actress was. "Ashwini never used glycerin for emotional roles. She played her characters with complete dedication and intensity. We were shooting for a scene when Ashwini didn’t hear director calling ‘cut’. She continued performing the character despite the noise on set after the cut. She used to be so involved in her character that sometimes other actors had to calm down her, hug her. We used to say 'relax'," recalls Desai.

We wish her soul rests in peace. Ashwini, you will be missed!
