As POTUS and Michelle Obama leave India, Delhi is back to electioneering in full swing, amidst the din and clamour, an almost sacred tableau of art and culture quietly unfolds. Almost all the galleries in the city are having shows that coincide with the Yes Bank-sponsored Art Fair at NSIC grounds Okhla.

The Kiran Nadar-founded museum KNMA kickstarts the weekend with a retrospective of artist Rameshwar Broota at their space at the South Gate Mall Saket, the show delves into the visceral aspect of the male anatomy and psyche exploring the vulnerability therein. A well-attended, well-appreciated show, it has a moody sentimentality that one associates with critical acclaim and keen artistry; a must-see.

Kiran Nadar, a doyenne of society, has been a keen aficionado and patron of the arts for over a decade. She personally received all her guests with uncommon warmth and grace. Kiran and her philanthropist billionaire husband Shiv Nadar share a home of uncommon beauty in the Capital, replete with precious museum-quality artwork that the interior weaves around, the gardens are of grand splendour with sculptures and fauna warping and wefting in sublime unison to make a home like no other.

The Art Fair is now a must-do art event for art lovers world over. This year, the fair has grown in representation and the crowd of art collectors at the preview bears ample testament to its extraordinary success. Yes Bank and its dynamic chairman Rana Kapoor sponsor the event. Rana and Neha Kirpal make the Art Fair a showcase event that is represented by the finest galleries from India and abroad. This year the Yes Lounge at the Art Fair has the Spotlight Series and the highlight of the series will be 'My East is Your West', a project for the 56th Venice Biennale 2015. Further, the series will witness a number of prominent speakers and artists including Sakti Burman, Kishore Singh, Rahul Kumar, Jawahar Sirkar, Sabeena Gadihoke, Arpita Singh, Rahaab Allana, Prof Mushirul Hasan, Jaya Jaitly and Rosa Maria Favlo.

All my friends, who have come from foreign shores are going on to the Cochin Biennale and for some Ayurvedic treatments to round off a glorious week of culture and the arts in India. As a collector and the founder of an auction house and Gallery Triveda, I feel a great sense of pride that Indian art is coming of age....
