Twentieth Century Fox has rubbished reports that Arnold Schwarzenegger has been cast in Avatar 2.

A casting denial is unusual for a studio, suggesting that it is perhaps keen to quash the idea of Schwarzenegger being in the James Cameron sequel.

According to the Hollywood Reporter, 20th Century Fox confirmed he would not be starring, following rumours earlier in the week that he has signed up, Metro.co.uk reported.

Schwarzenegger is soon to return to the Terminator franchise for its fifth outing, and next appears in Escape Plan and The Expendables 3, the latter of which is thought to have just cast Frasier’s Kelsey Gramme.

Avatar 2, Avatar 3 and a prequel Avatar 4 are expected to shoot all in one go in 2014.
