Appealing to youths to stay away from drugs, actor Akshay Kumar on Tuesday asked them to contribute to the progress of the nation and to lead a disciplined life.

Kumar was speaking at the premises of Lovely Professional University in Jalandhar where he was promoting his film Brothers, with co-stars Jacqueline Fernandez and Siddharth Malhotra.

"The biggest hindrance to the nation's progress is drugs. Youths should always stay away from them. They can become slaves to addiction which will deter the development of the country," he said.

Kumar also said that he had "never used any intoxicants and do not even drink tea or coffee."
