Akshay Kumar starrer 'The Shaukeens' has low opening weekend but a good word of mouth publicity

When it's an Akshay Kumar film, no matter what the length of his role is in the movie is, it is expected to create quite an impact at the box office. A regular churner of hits, Akshay has always done four-five films each year and brought in the maximum business for Bollywood in total. But with The Shaukeens, it seemed to have been deterred a bit.

Being an out and out comedy entertainer and a nice plot along with Akshay's special appearance, The Shaukeens was expected to open big at the cash registers. But the film collected around Rs 5 crore nett on Friday and Saturday each and around Rs 8 crore on Sunday to take its weekend total to about Rs 18 crore at the box office.

Akshay Kumar-Lisa Haydon starrer had a lot of hype given that the trailers, songs and other promos of the film clicked well with the audience. Although the number in its opening week seems low, the film is made on a controlled budget hence it would only be sometime that the producers recover their money. also with a good word of mouth about the film, The Shaukeens might just have a steady first week which will in turn help in making quite a lot of profit as well.
