She did the disappearing act after Kal Manja, but Kannada actor Aisshwarya Nag is back, and this time, she informs us, “here to stay”. The actor debuted with Neené Neené but got the desired attention only through her stint in Jolly Days. Then she did Kal Manja and even as we thought that we’d now get to see more of her on screen, her career took a back seat. “That’s because I decided to complete my studies. I got a lot of offers post Jolly Days and I would have made a place for myself in the industry by now if I had taken them up. But I have no regrets because at the time education was my priority,” says Aisshwarya.

And going by the number of projects she has in hand currently, it looks like she is making up for all the lost time. “I have quite a few films in my kitty and the best part is that each of these films gives me an opportunity to bring out the actor in me,” the actor tells us.
On one hand there is Ziddi in which she plays a langa davani-clad village belle and on the other there is Biscuit, where she essays the role of a stylish TV reporter. “Both Neené Neené and Jolly Days saw me in performance-oriented and deglamorised roles. This created an impression in the industry that I was not open to doing bold characters. But Biscuit will put a fullstop to this misconception,” she adds.

Her role in Ziddi comes as a complete contrast. “I just completed shooting for a retro song in the film and it was absolute fun. The song recreates the charm of the 1960s. You will see me dressed the way yesteryear actors Mumtaz and Kalpana did,” she adds.
But ask her why she is settling down for multi-starrers given that Jolly Days was a multi-starrer and Ziddi also has Aindrita Ray and Prajwal Devaraj in the lead and she says, “As a matter of fact, my other upcoming film, Loosegalu is also a multi-starrer. As long as my role is meaty it does not matter to me if the film is a multi-starrer or not.”

Challapilli in which she stars opposite Vijay Raghavendra however sees her play the solo lead. “I’ll be dabbling with comedy for the first time,” she adds. The film will also see famous Tulu film and stage actors play pivotal roles. Pataisu is her other long-pending project. “We just need to finish shooting the songs. Sudeep will be seen in a special role in the film. So as soon as we get his dates, the project will be complete,” she says. “After completing these films, I am looking forward to working with big directors and actors like Sudeep and Shivarajkumar,” she concludes.
