Actor turned TMC MP Mimi Chakraborty allegedly harassed by taxi driver; accused arrested

The taxi driver reportedly made some lewd comments on the actress and MP Mimi Chakraborty.

In a new development, a taxi driver was arrested on Tuesday for allegedly making lewd comments against the actor turned TMC MP Mimi Chakraborty while she was traveling in her car last night. Bengali film actress Mimi Chakraborty, who is set to be seen as Mahishasuramardini, in a Mahalaya special show, protested and later, filed a police complaint in Gariahat police station. 

The incident took place on Monday night near Ballygunge Phari area. The taxi driver reportedly made some lewd comments on the actress and MP. The accused has been identified as 32-years-old Deba Yadav. 

Mimi's complaint read, "The fact of the case is that on 14.9.20 at 13.30 hrs while the complainant was moving on her car along Gariahat road from Ballygunge phanri towards Gariahat crossing, an unknown driver of taxi misbehaved with the complainant."

According to our sources, Deba was charged under sections 354, 354A, 354D, 509 of the Indian Penal Code. Actress Mimi, who is the leading lady of Tollywood, will soon be seen as Mahishasuramardini in Mahalaya special show. The actress has already shot for the special show which is being directed by filmmaker Kamaleshwar. The show will feature actor Jeetu Kamal as Ram and Madhumita Sarcar as Sita.

In other news, in March 2020, Mimi Chakraborty, who was shooting in London had been under home quarantine for 14 days, TMC had announced. Mimi was shooting for her upcoming film 'Baazi' in London at the time. She had said, "I have returned from a place like the UK via Dubai. So all the precautions have been taken. I have told my parents not to meet me at home. My father is above 65 years. The first seven days I will be at home."

The Jadavpur Lok Sabha member also told the media, "We are going through bad times. But I am sure it will pass off. We must go by the government directives on cleanliness, wash our hands and take all precautions. We must maintain distance with other people as a safety measure."
