At the mad and crazy trailer launch of Ki and Ka, Kareena fondly gave Arjun few names and we totally love it!
The Ki and Ka trailer has hit the digital platforms and has become a rage already. With R Balki's quirky take on marriages and gender equality, the film looks promising, fun and an extremely hilarious ride. And most importantly, it seems refreshingly new and different.
A staunch shift from the trademark, stereotypical masala potboilers, Ki and Ka will have two of the industry's leading names- Kareena Kapoor and Arjun Kapoor- playing husband and wife. A pairing as unusual as the film, right? And it works wonders. The chemistry between Arjun and Bebo is evident from the way they interact.
When asked to kiss each other to recreate the poster, Kareena laughingly jokes, "Balki sir, you will get me a divorce now." Kareena seemed to be in her full spirits at the launch as she tackled all questions with her incredible sense of humour. So when someone quizzed her about hubby Saif Ali Khan's culinary skills, Kareena shot back, "Saif isn't a great cook and I think Arjun should give him some cooking lessons now. Arjun has mastered the art. (Looks at Arjun) Masterchef ka host banna toh pakka hai aapka." The audience is in splits!
In the film, revolving around role reversal, Arjun plays Kareena's 'housewife'. Confused? Well, Arjun's the one who runs the household whereas Kareena's the bread earner, the man of the house! Interesting, for sure! While Kareena fondly jokes with Arjun, the Gen-Y actor too takes it sportingly. "Humare promotions ke pehle 30 second mein inhone meri aukaat dikha di. Ki tum cook ho!, " he laughs.
Arjun compliments Kareena by saying that she 'listened to Balki more than he did' while he rather engages in counter-discussions with the director. And both Balki and Kareena start pulling his legs. The fun banter was hilarious for sure. "You have to know that you are a woman in the film. You are an aunty. you are meant to be argumentative," Bebo told him. The case rests.
Someone even asked Arjun to comment on people's opinions on women emancipation on the social network and how it's totally different in reality. Arjun's answer was strong and extremely practical. But before he could finish, Kareena again broke the serious mahaul. "I have decided to vote for you now," she said this time referring to him as a would-be politician.
Arjun did several workshops to get the nuances of his character correct. He explains, "I wanted to not feel lost when I had to shoot in the kitchen because most of my scenes are shot in the kitchen. So when I am cooking something, picking up the utensils, washing them- I wanted it to look proper. I wanted to be comfortable around it. I wanted to be able to hold the knife correctly." And Bebo cut him again with another funny remark that brought in all the cheers. "Listen, I need a maid, yaar. I am very impressed. Look at the way, the conviction with which you have done it."
So now Bebo's made Arjun the bawarchi, the maid and the would be politician. What's next? Amid all the fun, one thing we really loved - their crackling camaraderie and we are sure this will translate on celluloid as well.
