Fans have set up their own petition to get Quentin Tarantino on board to direct Deadpool 2 after Tim Miller left the project.

The petition that was launched just two days ago already has more than 1,700 signatures, said The Hollywood Reporter.

The move comes after Deadpool director Miller exited the sequel following alleged creative differences with star Ryan Reynolds.

"If there was ever a chance to see Tarantino do a project almost guaranteed to make a billion dollars, this is it. We got a great taste of what this could be like in Kill Bill, but imagine having a guy like Tarantino write dialogue for 'The Merc with the Mouth'! It would be so glorious. Join me!" writes Carl Champion Jr, who started the petition.

Later, Champion posted an update, saying that Tarantino is the best choice due to his genre-bending abilities and snappy dialogue writing skills.

Quentin Tarantino, who might take retirement from direction, has earlier expressed a desire to pen novels and plays.

According to a report in The Independent, the 52-year-old director revealed that he wanted to retire from direction after completing 10 movies and hopes to complete two more films after his flick The Hateful Eight.

The Pulp Fiction director said that after taking retirement, he would start mulling about his creative future, adding that he basically desires to write novels and theatres.

So could Deadpool 2 be one of the two movies left on his roster?
