We all love the story of Cinderella and how one glass slipper changed her life. But Disney's Cinderella is unique! Why you may ask. This movie directed by Kenneth Branagh grossed over $ 543 million at the box office when it released in 2015. The movie also went on to get an Oscar nomination for Best Costume Design last year. The movie went on to win many awards last year and this year as well.

Well, here are 10 things you did not know about the Disney Cinderella. 

1.Cinderella is the oldest Disney princess at the age of 19.

2. The animated version was re-released a total of 6 times in theaters in 1957, 1965, 1973, 1981, 1987, and 2013.

3. The iconic blue dress in this film actually had eight versions made, all used according to what Lily James had to do in the relevant scene

4. Swarovski had to create a machine to especially create crystal shoes that could not actually be worn as they had no movement.

5. Lily James who essays the lead role of Cinderella trained for the role with the help of horse riding, daily yoga and research on Gandhi.

6. A film like Cinderella has been known for its design and costume, hence it comes as no surprise that Oscar-winning costumer designer Sandy Powell started working on designs 2 years before filming started.

7. The movie is one of the few modern age classics that is shot completely on film reel and not on digital equipment. This in a way kept the movie a timeless story tale  that holds true to Disney’s masterpiece.

8. Due to economic constraints at the time of production , Walt Disney could not spend as much money on the 1957 Cinderella animated movie as he did on Fantasia and Pinocchio. Hence, he shot the whole movie in live action first and then converted parts of the movie in designing sets and assisting the animators.

9. Believe it or not, the Duchess of Cambridge, Kate Middleton’s life can be found similar to Disney’s Princess Cinderella as she was the first princess to be married into a Royal Family and not an heir to the throne.

10.  The magical flash in which the Fairy Godmother converts Cinderella’s tattered dress into a gorgeous gown is said to be Walt Disney’s favourite piece of animation ever. It was drawn by Marc Davis, one of Disney’s Nine Old Men.
