Amazon Prime Video, on Tuesday, unveiled the trailer for the sports documentary series 'Sons of the Soil' based on the 2018-19 Pro Kabbadi League season journey of the team Jaipur Pink Panthers.

The 5-episode series is finally seeing the light of the day after being on the shelves for a year. Alongwith the streaming platform, the franchise's owner Abhishek Bachchan was present at the trailer launch along with the representative from the producers.

Produced by BBC Studios India and directed by two-time BAFTA Scotland winner Alex Gale, the series encompasses Panthers' journey in the up-and-down season with behind-the-scenes footage of the team and country's one of the oldest sports - Kabaddi.

The series 'Sons of the Soil - Jaipur Pink Panthers' will be launched on December 4 streaming in over 200 countries simultaneously.

Talking about the show, Aparna Purohit, Head - India Originals, Amazon Prime Video India said, "Amazon Prime Video has always endeavored to bring diverse and gripping stories to our audiences. From gangland dramas to musicals - we have developed and produced authentic stories rooted in our soil. And with Sons of the Soil: Jaipur Pink Panthers, we are extremely proud to diversify our repertoire and bring our first-ever sports docu-series in India to our viewers."

After Netflix's 'Cricket Fever - Mumbai Indians' and Disney+ Hotstar's 'Roar of the Lion', this is Amazon Prime Video's foray into Indian sports documentaries.

Talking about partnering with Amazon for this never-seen-before straight out of the players' locker room-view series, Abhishek Bachchan said, "I am delighted to team-up with Amazon Prime Video to tell the inspiring story of Jaipur Pink Panthers to the global audience. I had made my digital debut with Amazon Original Series, Breathe: Into the Shadows, so sharing the unfiltered story of my team, Jaipur Pink Panthers, through this global service made absolute sense.

"Sons of the Soil: Jaipur Pink Panthers promises to take the audience on a motivational ride as the players and the team aim to win the seventh season of Pro Kabaddi League. I believe, we have created a show that will engage and inspire the audience.”

Talking about the inspiring journey of the Panthers, producing the show and partnering with Amazon Prime Video's service, BBC Studios India Business Head, Sameer Gogate, said, “BBC Studios has had a strong heritage and specialization in producing documentary content globally and we are excited to bring our expertise in this genre into the India market.

"India is a sports hungry nation and we are delighted to collaborate with Amazon Prime Video to bring to their audience the first-ever sports docu-series on a truly indigenous sport like kabaddi. It was a pleasure to work with Amazon Prime Video, Abhishek Bachchan and the entire Jaipur Pink Panthers team, who opened up their world and hearts to us.”

The series is co-directed by Omkar Potdar and music is given by Gaurav Godkhindi, who recently gave the background score for Bejoy Nambiar's 'Taish'.
