This year, over 4.41 lakh students appeared for the SSLC exam at nearly 3000 exam centres in the state. Nine centres were set for each Lakshadweep and the Middle East. Kerala SSLC examinations commenced from March 7 and concluded on March 28.

DHSE had to re-conduct the Mathematics exam due to paper leak. The mathematics examination scheduled on March 20 was cancelled after the board authorities found out that the original question paper had a lot of similarities with model question paper. In 2017 also, the Kerala education department had to re-conduct the maths exam due to paper leak.

The minister for education, Prof C Raveendranath will declare the results either on May 2 or May 3 like last year. Kerala government, to ease the declaration of the results process, has shared the result with various website partners.

The results will be available on their official app, ‘Saphalam’ which is available on Playstore.

Importance of the SSLC

The SSLC is obtained by passing a public examination, i.e., an examination that has been formulated by the regional board of education that the school is affiliated with, and not by members of the faculty of the school. The performance of a student in the SSLC examination is the key factor in obtaining admission to a higher secondary school of choice, where acceptance is typically based on the results of the SSLC examination. Therefore, the SSLC is often regarded as the first important examination that a student undertakes.
