GATE 2022 update: Examination dates, official website, new subjects added - All details inside

The exam will be computer-based, students will be given 180 minutes to complete the paper

The Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) 2022 admissions into MTech courses will be held in IIT-Kharagpur next year. The news was announced on Thursday (July 29). The exams will be held next year on February 5, 6, 12 and 13. Interested students can get more information on this by visiting the official website of IIT Kharagpur - iitkgp.ac.in, gate.iitd.ac.in.

With this, two new subjects have also been added which will be available to the candidates - GE (Geomatics Engineering) and NM (Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering), taking the total number of GATE papers to twenty-nine which was earlier twenty-seven. The eligibility criteria has also been expanded for GATE 2022 and will now include those having BDS and MPharm degrees.

The director of IIT-Kharagpur, VK Tewari said, "The two new papers will provide direct benefits to our graduates in these two areas, especially when the country needs human resources with advanced capabilities in shipbuilding industries and geo-informatics." He also added, "Further, the GATE is fast acquiring a brand value and foreign universities are also utilising the scores for their admission."

The examination will be computer-based and the students will be given a duration of 180 minutes. In total, 195 centres have been allotted to conduct the GATE 2022 examination and approximately 858,890 students are expected to appear for the exam in 2022.
