The Delhi government will initiate the work on 200 sites in the national Capital for setting up of mohalla clinics. The department of health will handover these sites to the Public Works Department (PWD) this week. The decision was taken in a meeting chaired by Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Monday.

According to the officials, off the 580 sites in total, the departments have found 480 as feasible for the construction of mohalla clinics. Various land owning agencies like Delhi Jal Board (DJB), Delhi Development Authority (DDA) etc had given a no objection certificate (NOC) on these 580 sites.

"The CM was satisfied with the re-inspection report and he has directed the officials to speed up the work now. By this week, the sites will be handed over to the PWD and even the pending inspection work will also be completed," said a senior official from the department of health.

During the inspection, the officials could not locate 26 sites and hence they are yet to be inspected. The decision to re-inspect the sites was taken after Kejriwal pulled up the authorities last week as he made a surprise visit to some of the sites declared as "non-feasible" by the officials and found them viable. There are 189 functional mohalla clinics in the capital.

The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government in its 2018-2019 budget has proposed setting up of 1,000 such clinics in the national Capital As per the timeline projected by the government this year, the joint survey by the PWD and the chief medical officers should have been completed by April 30.
