High drama erupted at the Keshavpuram police station in North-West district on Tuesday night after a 43-year old man, who complained of chest pain, died while he was inside the police station in connection with a quarrel case.

Two police officials of the rank of the Assistant Sub-Inspector have been suspended pending enquiry.

According to the police a call was received around 11:45pm about a quarrel at Tri-Nagar bus stand. A minute after the first call another call was received from the same area but a different caller. When the police officials reached the location a juvenile identified as Rushit alleged that he was beaten by Kulbhushan Chaturvedi (43) and wanted his medical examination to be done.

Police officials also asked Chaturvedi if he wanted to get his medical done as well but he refused.

Around 12:52 am Rushit’s medical test was conducted after which he reached the police station again and asked for the course of action. Kulbhushan was called back to the police station and it was during this time he died.

“Kulbhushan complained of chest pain in the station after which he was rushed to the Fortis hospital by his family members around 2am. He was declared dead by the hospital around 2:30 am,”said a police officer.
