The Supreme Court on Monday has agreed to hear a plea filed by Kerala Class 10 student Rohan Mathew's plea seeking to quash Central Board of Secondary Education's decision to hold a re-examination of the Class X Mathematics paper following reports of the question papers being leaked.

Mathew contended that CBSE's decision jeopardised the future of over 16 lakh students who appeared for the exam on March 28, in India and abroad.

A bench of Chief Justice Dipak Misra and Justices A M Khanwilkar and D Y Chandrachud said since many petitions have been filed on the same issue, it would list them all for hearing on April 4.

The counsel, representing the Kerala-based 15-year-old, sought urgent hearing of the plea by the top court challenging the decision to re-conduct the examination.

Besides seeking an independent probe into the leak, the student has also sought a direction to the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) to declare the results on the basis of the examinations already conducted.

Concurrently, the Delhi High Court asked CBSE if they planned to re-examinations of the class 10 Mathematics paper. It asked the board to freeze on a tentative date and not to keep the students on "tenterhooks" till then.
