Getting admission in Delhi University (DU) under the sports quota is going to get a little tougher from this academic session, as the varsity has decided to allot 60 per cent of the marks to trials. The trials will commence from the last week of June. The dates have not been finalised yet.

Candidates who have represented the country in international sports events, such as Olympics, world championships, world cups, Commonwealth Games, or Asian Games, will be allowed direct admission without trial.

Trials for a specific game or sport, as identified by the DU Sports Council, will be conducted by colleges independently. An applicant must secure a minimum of 30 marks in the trial to be eligible for admission.

In a bid to prevent malpractices during trials, the colleges will have to videograph the procedure.

A maximum of the remaining 40 marks will be allotted to certificates. "If a candidate has secured first position in a national tournament, that certificate will be worth 36 marks. First position in a zonal competition of CBSE-level tournament will be worth 16 marks," a senior Varsity official said.
