In a bid to mark their protest against the sealing drive, Delhi's traders plan to offer roses to government officials on Valentine's Day (February 14) urging the Centre to bring in an ordinance to end the sealing drive.
Speaking to DNA about their plans, traders said they will present roses to officials of civic bodies as well as to the three-member Monitoring Committee under the 'My Valentine-My Shop' campaign.
Besides this, the Confederation of All India Traders (CAIT) on Friday said that the exercise will be followed by a mega rally to be held at the Ramlila Maidan on February 15.
"We have called for a mega rally where traders from across the city will gather to press our demand for an ordinance by the Centre to end the sealing drive," said Praveen Khandelwal, general secretary, CAIT.
Over 1,000 traders, both from the wholesale and retail sectors, from all parts of the city will participate in the rally.
The civic bodies have sealed over 1,500 shops in the Capital so far. The sealing drive in the city is being conducted on directions of the Supreme Court-appointed Monitoring Committee. The sealing drive is being conducted with regard to violations in the Delhi Master Plan-2021.
Traders have also sought a meeting with Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh in this regard.
