A petrol pump owner was shot at outside a bank while he was walking towards it in order to deposit the cash in South Delhi's Malviya nagar area on Tuesday morning. The auto-rickshaw driver who was present at the location intervened to save the victim but was hit by the accused men.

Kamal Jeet Singh Sethi, owner of a petrol pump in the Lado Sarai area reached the federal bank in Malviya Nagar in his Swift car to deposit the cash. He was carrying the cash collected during the weekend from the petrol pump. The robbed amount is stated to be around Rs 15 lakhs.

The entire incident has been captured on CCTV cameras which showed Jeet walking towards the co-driver's seat in order to pick up the black bag full of cash. He then picked up the bag and walk towards the bank. Suddenly the attacker came running behind him and fired at him after which he picked up the bag.

An auto-rickshaw driver identified as Pankaj intervened to save the man but was hit by the accused. "I had dropped my wife and was passing through the road when I saw the man screaming for help. I stopped and rushed to save him but the accused hit me we the butt of the gun. I felt dizzy and fell on the floor. He ran with the bag alone," said Pankaj.

Jeet sustained injuries and was later discharged and is undergoing treatment at Max hospital.

Prima facie it appears that the attackers were three in number and were trailing the accused from Lado Sarai. While one of them was stationed near the bank the others stood at a distance in order to help him flee.

A case under appropriate sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) was regsitered. Further investigations are underway.
