Thought it was just 25.88 mm rainfall between Wednesday and Thursday it seemed to have crippled Delhi's traffic services on Thursday adding to the woes of the people. Even though the traffic police gave live traffic updated on their twitter handle but it seemed to help very few.

Traffic moved at a snail's pace from Mother Dairy towards National Highway-24 due to ongoing road repairing work. The movement of Kanwaris also added to traffic woes.

There was congestion in the carriageway from Dhaula Kuan towards Gurugram and from Chirag Dilli to Sheikh Sarai due to the movement of Kanwaris.

Delhi traffic police further confirmed that congestion was there in areas of South Delhi like RK Puram, Vasant Vihar and certain parts of central areas like Rani Jhansi Road due to water logging.

Besides, hour-long jams were witnessed at Vayusenabad on the Mehrauli-Badarpur Road and at major intersections such as Ashram Chowk, Britannia Chowk, Kashmere Gate.

"It took me over 35 minutes to reach my Siddharth Extension home from Ashram Chowk, which is otherwise a 15-20 minutes ride. The government must do something to fix theses stretches, as the same strory repeats itself every monsoon," said, Sanjeev Ahuja, a commuter.

The other affected areas include Rao Tula Ram (RTR) Marg flyover, Mehrauli-Badarpur Road, Aurobindo Marg, and Nehru Place, among others, Vikas Marg, Lakshmi Nagar, Dwarka underpass, Nirankari Road, Tilak Bridge, Kahsmere Gate, and Punjabi Bagh flyover.

RTR is the key link connecting to the Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGIA), and vehicles were stuck for around 25-30 minutes at Subrato Park near the Army Research and Referral Hospital.

The Public Works Department (PWD) and the civic agencies have been playing a a blame game, even as commuters suffer every time it rains. Earlier this season, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal had said that the city needed a separate body for the cleaning of drains.
