Police shoot at criminal, later donate blood to him

In an encounter that took place in Outer Delhi area in the wee hours of the morning, a criminal was shot at after the police was informed about two suspects roaming in the area with muffled faces and scaling the boundary wall of a society.

Police officials fired nine rounds. One of the suspects managed to flee the spot, while the other is currently undergoing treatment at a city hospital.

Nitin, the accused sustained a bullet injury while his accomplice managed to escape on the police patrol motorcycle. Constable Ashok Kumar, who was part of the police team firing at the suspects, later turned good samaritan and donated blood to save Nitin's life. Other police officials also joined him in donating blood. Nitin's father had retired from the Army in 2006 and is currently bedridden. The duo would tell their families they were travelling to Delhi for work, but instead would carry out burglaries.

The police was informed about the incident at 3.50 am on Wednesday. A family residing in Ahinsa Vihar Apartments informed them about two men with muffled faces and backpacks hiding behind cars. Police officials immediately rushed to the location and saw the two men trying to escape via the boundary wall.

Rishi Pal, DCP Rohini stated that one of them fired at police, and in retaliation, police officers fired around nine rounds. One of the bullets hurt Nitin while his accomplice, taking advantage of the darkness escaped from the location.

"A country-made pistol, live rounds, housebreaking equipment were recovered from them. Nitin alias Sonu (24) hails from Kaas Ganj in Uttar Pradesh. He is undergoing treatment at BSA hospital. A case under appropriate sections has been registered. Further investigations are underway," added Pal.
