A fire gutted a plastic godown in the Rani Kheda area during the early hours of Saturday. Police and senior fire officials confirmed that no casualty was reported in the incident.

According to senior officers from the Delhi Fire Service, locals spotted dense smoke emanating from the building that housed the godown and called the police and the firefighters. Chief fire officer Atul Garg said that six fire tenders were rushed to the spot and the blaze was contained after 2 hours.

"Since it was early in the morning godown workers were yet to arrive. No one was injured in the incident. Initial probe suggests the cause of the fire to be a short circuit, however, a detailed inspection would ascertain it," Garg said. He also said that it is being checked if the building had fire safety clearance and adequate fire-fighting arrangements.
