Photo festival to create awareness about sustainable development

It will also display photo-based installations created by the four awardees of the Photosphere award - Harikrishna Katragadda, Monica Tiwari, Shraddha Borawake and K R Sunil, each having being mentored by renowned photographers like Parthiv Shah, Bandeep Singh, Prabir Purkayastha and Aditya Arya.

In an attempt to create awareness on sustainable development, a month-long photography gala is set to begin in Delhi. The festival titled “Panchtattvas: The Road Ahead”, which will start at the India Habitat Centre (IHC) on Thursday, includes photographic displays, workshops, and films focusing on five primitive elements - earth, air, water, ether, and fire. 

It will also display photo-based installations created by the four awardees of the Photosphere award - Harikrishna Katragadda, Monica Tiwari, Shraddha Borawake and K R Sunil, each having being mentored by renowned photographers like Parthiv Shah, Bandeep Singh, Prabir Purkayastha and Aditya Arya.

Among other installations, there is a light-based multiple-media installation titled “Illume”by artiste Ashim Ghosh, who reflects on whether the coasts and forest will disappear soon. The installation will also showcase the changing planetary realities in a cinematic way. 

A video essay “Deep weather” by Swiss artiste Ursula Biemann will be there to compel visitors to think about the changing ecology, along with an animation work on the Ganga by artist Ashim Ghosh, which will give insights on the condition of the holy river.

Film director Shyam Benegal will inaugurate the festival on Thursday.
