The minor son of a Philippines diplomat was allegedly sexually assaulted by his classmate, whose father is a diplomat from Angola, in the South Campus area, police said on Monday. The police have registered a case but owing to diplomatic immunity, the accused child has not been apprehended.

According to the cops, the matter first came to light on June 22, after the victim's parents informed them about the incident. The parents revealed that their son did not seem to be enjoying the summer vacations, and remained quiet and lost. After a lot of attempts by the parents, he opened up and told them that he was being sexually assaulted by a classmate for some time.

The child told his parents that he was first assaulted by the boy around March, and the ordeal had continued since then. The accused boy warned him against telling anyone about it and threatened him with dire consequences. A medical examination confirmed that the boy was assaulted.

Two days after the victim's family had lodged a complaint, the family of the accused also turned up at the police station and put forth counter-allegations. They submitted a complaint as well but a case was not registered.

The two boys were in the same class at a private school in the Anand Niketan area. The accused lives with his parents at the Angola Embassy in Vasant Vihar whereas the victim and his family live at the Philippine Embassy in Pancharipuri.

"We have registered a case under Sections 377 (unnatural sex) and 506 (criminal intimidation) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and relevant sections of the Protection Of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act at the South Campus police station. Further investigation is underway. The accused child is a minor, and because of the diplomatic immunity, he has not been apprehended yet," a senior police officer said.
