The Congress Party on Thursday said the money being spent on Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal's television advertisements belongs to the people of Delhi and should be spent on various development programme.

"Whatever money Kejriwal is spending on advertisements, this money belongs to the people, this money is something which can be used in a better way, now the Delhi government doesn't have money to give to the municipal  corporation because of which they are unable to pay the cleaners or any of the doctors in municipal corporation," Delhi Congress chief Ajay Maken told ANI.

Maken said that Kejriwal is using public's money to show them his own picture and requested him to use them for a better cause.

"They are able to find more money which they are spending on TV advertisements. My request to Kejriwal is, on one hand when government is facing huge resource crunch, please don't use this money for your own publicity, to show people your own pictures, instead use this money more judiciously for development program," he added.

Maken added that the Delhi Chief Minister is trying to find a way out of Supreme Court's order.

"He is trying to find a way out of Supreme Court order. Supreme Court will take cognizance of this. This shows his mindset. He is just trying to find an escape route to come out of governance," said Maken.

The Supreme Court has barred publication of photos of leaders in government advertisements except those of the President, Prime Minister and the Chief Justice of India.

The Delhi government's advertisements with Kejriwal in them, seen across Delhi, will soon be taken down as per the Supreme Court order on government ads.
