Parisian ballet dancers enthrall Delhiites

Delhiites were enthralled by ballet performances as the Paris Ballet Legend was launched at Siri Fort on Thursday. The ballet festival is part of the ongoing third edition of Bonjour India, which is a four-month-long mega voyage across India that celebrates Indo-French partnership.

To showcase the best of ballet, Bonjour India brought to India an international cast of principal dancers, including famous stars of the Paris Ballet Opera, in a tribute to Paris, the city of love and light. The Paris Ballet Legends took Delhi on a journey through iconic classical and contemporary ballet repertoire, with each piece carrying the soul of legends, including the composer, choreographer, dancer as well as the theme.

The audience moved through various themes that ranged from Petipa to Piaf, Bizet to Prévert, all intimately inspired by Paris. A special workshop for advanced dancers in India will also be offered by some of the dancers.

Speaking about the event, Curator General of Bonjour India, Dr. Bertrand de Hartingh said, 'I am extremely happy to bring this visual treat straight from Paris. Bonjour India is an intricate 'pas de deux' between India and France, and Paris Ballet Legends brings to India the best France has to offer. This most amazing programme flirts with different styles and stories bringing to life the French legacy in ballet. We look forward to engaging with music and dance lovers in India."

The star of the opera was Agnès Letestu, who is revered as the grande dame of Paris Opera. She had the audience bewitched with her technical expertise, personal dramatic performances, radiant charm.

The third edition of Bonjour India 2017-18 was launched in November 2017, and will continue till February 2018. It covers 100 projects in 33 cities across 20 states and union territories, providing a platform for enduring partnerships across the themes of Smart Citizen, High Mobility, Go Green.
