Now, NDMC to introduce smart classrooms

Under the Smart City project, the New Delhi Municipal Corporation (NDMC) has decided to revamp 444 classrooms at 30 out of 51 schools as "smart classrooms." This will have CCTV cameras, LEDs and other required infrastructure for imparting lessons through digital content.

Officials said, for students of the senior secondary wing, there are digital versions of the last 10 years' examination papers, interactive material, standard lessons, practice material and question banks. And as of today, they have been successful in their venture. NDMC has set up smart classes in 444 classrooms which cover children studying from Classes 6 to 12.

The content, based on the NCERT syllabus, is available in both Hindi and English, the official said.

Statistics show an overall improvement in performance of students, particularly a marked rise in Class 10 and 12 results of all Navyug and NDMC schools.

According to NDMC officials, in Class 10, the number of students who passed with distinction has increased considerably from the academic year 2014-15 to 2016-17.

Similarly, he said, the Class 12 results of NDMC/Navyug schools are commendable in the backdrop of a slight dip in the Class 12 result of other government schools. Apart from improvement in the overall result there is a substantial increase in the quality of performance by the students, as the number of distinctions in different subjects has increased by about 40 per cent.
