The city continued to sizzle on Monday as it recorded maximum temperature of 42 degrees Celsius and the sky remained clear adding to the heat. The meteorological department has predicted no respite from the rising mercurial level in the coming days as it is expected to touch 44 degrees Celsius soon.

Monday saw a minimum temperature of 25 degrees Celsius and strong surface wind during the day. The weatherman has advised people to stay indoors during the daytime and keep themselves properly covered and hydrated if they step out. The minimum temperature will oscillate between 26 to 27 degrees Celsius.

While the summer it at its peak, the water crisis in the national Capital looms even larger this summer and all that the people can expect from the government is a series of blame game with neighbour Haryana.

The city receives its water from Haryana, which of late has cut short the supply. Only last week, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal had written to Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar about the crisis. He urged also the Prime Minister to intervene.

"The water supply has been so scant for the past week that even the daily needs could not be met. This happens every year, why doesn't the government resolve this issue?" asked Kavita Sharma, a resident of Dilshad Garden.

Random power outages have kept the residents anxious across various parts of the city.

"Suddenly, during midnight there is a load shedding. In the day, one has to worry about water supply and in the night one couldn't even sleep because of untimely power cuts. The customer care centres say it will take around two hours to restore supply. The summers are made even tougher in such conditions," said Rajesh Gupta, a resident of Mehrauli.
