30-year-old woman allegedly slits throats of her two kids, killing one & severly injuring other
Unhappy with her marriage, a mother attacked her three-year-old daughter and one-and-half-year-old son in South Delhi's Malviya Nagar area on Saturday morning.
While the daughter succumbed to her injuries, the mother and the son are battling for their lives at a city hospital. However, the police officials have registered a case of murder and attempt to murder against unknown persons and are waiting to record the statement of the mother in order to establish the exact sequence of events.
According to the police, a call was received around 10:50 am. The call was made by Shamim, who informed the police that his wife had slashed the throats of the two children and attacked herself as well.
Shamim, along with his wife Mohsina, and two children, Sana (3) and Anas (1.5) resided on the third floor in Hauz Rani area's building.
Mohsina'a neighbour, Sapna, who lives in front of her house, was one of the first to reach the crime scene. She said that her nephew was playing outside in the balcony when Mohsina asked him to call her.
"My nephew came running and told me that Mohsina was calling me. I sent another girl to check on, who immediately told me that she saw blood. When I heard Mohsina calling me, I jumped from my balcony onto hers and found her with her throat slit. Anas was sitting in a pool of blood with his throat slit and the daughter's throat was slit from the bottom and the top as well. Both the kids were on the bed. I then ran down to call her in-laws. There was no one in the house," said Sapna.
Mohsina, Anas and Sana were taken to Max Hospital where Sana succumbed to her injuries while Mohsina and Anas are admitted in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) and are undergoing treatment.
"A case under Section 302 (murder) and 307 (attempt to murder) has been registered. Further investigation in the case is underway. The scene of crime was inspected by the crime team and forensic experts," said Vijayanta Arya, Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police, South.
According to Shamim's family members, the couple had an argument on Friday night after which Shamim came to his parents house, which is next to his own house, to sleep.
"Mohsina fought with Shamim as he came home late in the night. After that my aunt (Shamim's mom) asked Shamim to go and sleep at their house while she said she would sleep with Mohsina. In the morning, she came down to get milk for the children and in her absence Mohsina attacked the children and herself," said Mohammad Zubaid, Shamim's cousin.
