Minor gangraped by friend, 2 others

A 16-year-old girl alleged that she was gangraped by her male friend and two of his aides in northeast Delhi's Jyoti Nagar area on Tuesday. The police have arrested the friend and one of his associates, while the other is on the run.

The victim, accompanied by her mother, approached the police and made a written complaint against her friend, alleging that on the pretext of an outing, he took her to a secluded place and raped her. The police said that the girl also mentioned in her complaint that two other men present on the spot, who were known to her friend, also forced themselves upon her.

The girl was also threatened of dire consequences if she revealed the crime to her family, she claimed. The girl was then taken for a medical examination that confirmed sexual assault and a case of gangrape and under the POCSO Act was registered.

DCP Ajit Singla said that a police team acted on the complaint and the accused with one of his two aides was arrested on Wednesday. Further investigation is underway, he said.
