Man stabs sister-in-law over suspicion of affair in Gandhi Nagar

Suspecting that his sister-in-law was having an affair with someone over social media, a 31-year-old man killed the woman by stabbing her in the neck with a needle. The man then strangulating her at their residence in northeast Delhi. Police have arrested the man who was also involved in the murder of his father-in-law in 2010.

The accused has been identified as Ram Karan (31), who works as a tailor in Gandhi Nagar area and was living at his in-law's place after his marriage. Karan told the police that he had spotted his sister-in-law chatting with various men on social networking sites and had strictly asked her not to take the friendship any further, but she had refused to obey.

"It was on Tuesday night when Karan was sleeping with his brother-in-law on the terrace of the home, that he woke up to some noise and came down to check. While taking a round of his sister-in-law's room, he once again caught her chatting with a stranger on some social networking site. On this, Karan again objected to which the woman replied rudely as per him," said Ajit Singla, DCP northeast.

The DCP said that both of them then had a heated argument during which Karan got agitated and he pushed her hard. "As she fell, he first attacked her with a needle and then strangled her to ensure that she is dead. The woman's body was spotted by Karan's wife, who saw her sister lying unconscious and rushed her to a hospital where she was declared brought dead on arrival. The hospital informed the police and a case of murder was registered," Singla said.

During the investigation, Karan was found absconding from his house. Following technical surveillance, his location was traced and repeated raids led to his arrest. The deceased's mobile phone and her scooter on which the accused had fled, were also recovered. It was then revealed that he was also involved in the murder of his father-in-law in 2010," the officer said.
