Man kills wife, hangs himself in Noida

A 26-year-old man hung himself by a tree after allegedly murdering his 24-year-old wife in Phase II of Noida. The family members of the woman have alleged that the man had been demanding money ever since the their wedding, and in fact, a court case in this regard was also in process, the police said.

According to the police, the man strangulated his wife at their rented house in the Shramik Kunj area of Sector 93. He was later found hanging by a tree in a forest area near the Expressway police station. The police suspect that he murdered his wife over suspicion of infidelity after finding out that she had another phone that he was not aware of.

Meanwhile, the woman's father said: "I had been trying to reach my daughter since Thursday night. Finally, in the morning, I went to check on her. I found the house locked. I suspected foul play as just last night, we had dinner together. We broke down the door to find her body on the bed, with blood coming out of her nose. I immediately called the Police. Her husband was absconding."

The police reached the spot and sent the body for post-mortem. They said the woman was bleeding from her nose and had strangulation marks around her neck. The police then registered an FIR on the basis of a complaint lodged by the woman's father against the husband.

The woman's father said the couple had an arranged marriage four years ago. A few months into the marriage, the woman filed a case against the man for dowry harassment as he tortured her physically and mentally. The matter was sorted a few months ago and the two started living together. But, they were not on very good terms, the father said.

"The victim's father has alleged that she was murdered by her husband for not meeting dowry demands," said Rajeev, circle officer -2, Noida.
