Man held for molesting woman cop in Gurugram

The accused was identified as Rajesh Kumar. He was nabbed from his home in the Rathiwas village. He was reportedly drunk at the time of the incident.

The Gurugram Police on Monday arrested a man for allegedly stalking and molesting a woman cop near the Bilaspur Chowk in Gurugram on Saturday night, while she was returning home from work. 

The accused was identified as Rajesh Kumar. He was nabbed from his home in the Rathiwas village. He was reportedly drunk at the time of the incident.

In her complaint, the constable said that the moment she got down from the bus at the Bilaspur Chowk around 9pm, the accused and his two friends, all of whom were on a motorcycle, began to follow her. They came till the parking lot where she parks her scooter. She is currently posted at a police station in Faridabad. 

She further said that thought she tried her best to ignore the accused, he obstructed her way, and started misbehaving and touching her. According to her, the two others stalked her but did not do anything else. 

The constable then raised an alarm, following which some people gathered at the spot and caught hold of Rajesh. They also informed the police but by the time a team reached the spot, he managed to flee.

“Rajesh was arrested from his home on Monday. He works with a private company. Both the accused and the victim are residents of the same village. The accused has confessed to his crime. He will be produced in a city court on Tuesday,” SHO Om Prakash said.

“Rajesh confessed that he had had a fight with someone that day and had consumed alcohol afterwards. We have also identified the other two people involved. We are trying to find them,” a police officer said. 

An FIR has been lodged against Rajesh under Sections 354-B (assault or use of criminal force to any woman that may result in imprisonment of not less than three years) and 341 (punishment for wrongful restraint with simple imprisonment for a term that may extend to one month, or with fine that may extend to Rs 500, or with both) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).
