Man held for killing sister-in-law, her nephew in Central Delhi's Paharganj

A 35-year old man was arrested for murdering his sister-in-law and her nephew by stabbing them with a kitchen knife and hoe (fawda) in Central Delhi's Paharganj area on Thursday morning. The sister -in law's son sustained injuries in the attack.

The accused identified as Rajkumar alias Raju (35) was a known criminal of the area. The deceased sister-in-law Kaushalaya (55) resided in Kaseruwalan in Paharganj area along with her mother-in-law, Rajkumar and three sons. Her nephew Purushottam (30) had also come to visit the family and was staying with them.

Rajkumar often had fights with Kaushalaya over monetary issues and he would also taunt her for not taking care of the children after his brother's demise. Not just this, Rajkumar would doubt her character and pick fights with her.

On Wednesday evening as well he had a fight with Kaushalya and Purushottam intervened. He also slapped Rajkumar after which he left the house. Late night he returned to the house and attacked Kaushalya and Purushottam who were sleeping on the same floor with the hoe. He then moved to the second floor of the building where his nephew Rohit was sleeping. He attacked him with the kitchen knife and stabbed him multiple times after which he fled from the house.

The police received a call regarding two bodies in a pool of blood inside a house in Paharganj. They were rushed to the hospital where Purushottam was declared dead on arrival and Kaushalya succumbed to her injuries later in the day. Rohit is undergoing treatment at a city hospital.

Tarachand, who is the brother of the accused, had informed the police about the incident. The bodies have been sent for post-mortem examination, the police said adding that a case has been registered.
